The sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest of our solar system. Its existence was already known from prehistoric times whereas the first man to ever view it with a telescope was Galileo in 1610. The great Italian astronomer noticed the odd form of the planet with the rings that were thought unique in our solar system until 1977 when rings were also noticed around Uranus, Jupiter and Neptune.
